What is drive away insurance?
Drive away insurance is short-term motor cover for the period after you collect a car. It can give you time to arrange an annual policy.
Cuvva offers fully comprehensive temporary UK car insurance from one hour to 28 days. Choose the duration and start time around your collection plans.
It is optional, paid cover. Check whether transferring your existing annual policy or starting a new annual policy already meets your needs.
A collection-day option across our range
Invicta Motors offers new cars and used cars from many makes. Collection-day insurance matters whichever badge is on the bonnet.
The used Ford Focus pictured here is one example. Cuvva is not limited to Ford, but acceptance depends on both the driver and the individual vehicle.
Different makes, models, ages, values and insurance groups can affect eligibility. Check your car’s registration in Cuvva before relying on temporary cover.
How to arrange cover before collection
- Confirm the car and collection timeHave the correct registration and agree your handover arrangements with your Invicta team.
- Check your quote with CuvvaOpen Cuvva’s website, download the app and enter the driver, vehicle and journey details requested.
- Read the policy before payingCheck the price, start and end times, permitted use, excess, limits and exclusions.
- Check cover is activeConfirm your documents name the correct driver and car, and that the policy has started before you drive away.
Allow time before handover. A quote is not an active policy. Do not assume the dealership’s insurance or your previous car’s policy covers the journey home.
Keep the important details on your phone
Cuvva supplies policy documents digitally. Keep them accessible so you can check the insured registration, cover period and conditions.
Its app also provides access to customer support. Insurance questions, policy changes and claims should go directly to Cuvva using its support channels.
Your Invicta team can help confirm the vehicle details and collection arrangements. Cuvva assesses eligibility and provides the insurance quotation.
Plan beyond the drive home
If you need more time, Cuvva lets you check extension options in the app. Confirm the price and updated end time before relying on extra cover.
Arrange your ongoing insurance before temporary cover expires. Also confirm the vehicle is taxed and has a valid MOT where required before driving on the road.
