TIGGO 9: charging for your week
The TIGGO 9 Super Hybrid can make electricity part of your family’s routine while retaining petrol power for longer journeys. Start with where you can plug in.
At a glance
- Electric driving: up to 87 miles WLTP, with a manufacturer-quoted 34.4kWh battery.
- Public top-ups: up to 71kW DC and around 20 minutes from 30–80% under suitable conditions.
- Daily ownership: home or workplace access can help you make regular use of the rechargeable battery.
Start with your normal parking place
Think about where the car spends the longest part of your day. A suitable home or workplace charging point can let you replenish energy while parked.
For home charging, arrange an installer’s assessment of the electricity supply, parking position and cable route. Ask the Invicta team to show the connection on the actual car.
Charging is optional for continuing a journey, but regular plugging in helps you use the TIGGO 9’s electric capability. Match the installation to your routine.
Battery size and range mean different things
CHERY quotes a 34.4kWh battery and up to 87 miles of electric range under WLTP testing. Battery capacity is an energy figure; range describes a test distance.
The everyday distance you cover electrically varies with temperature, speed, hills, load and heating. The petrol engine may also run when the operating conditions require it.
Compare your usual round trip with the official figure, then discuss how winter and motorway journeys could change the charging routine.
Understand the rapid-charging figure
The UK TIGGO 9 supports DC charging at up to 71kW. CHERY quotes around 20 minutes from 30% to 80% under controlled, suitable conditions.
That is a partial top-up, not an empty-to-full charging time. Starting charge, battery temperature and the charger’s available output all affect the result.
A charger advertising more than 71kW does not make the car accept that higher rate. Plan the stop around the energy you need and the time available.
Get comfortable with the energy display
The energy-management screen is worth exploring before you take the car home. Ask the team to explain the battery level, electric-range estimate and available charging settings.
The handbook describes Charge Reservation for compatible AC charging with the cable connected. It does not apply to public points requiring card or code authorisation.
The handbook identifies a flashing green port indicator as charging and a steady green light as charging completed. Check the car’s display before disconnecting.
Petrol power remains part of the plan
The rechargeable battery works with the petrol engine and Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. The car can continue using its hybrid system when the usable electric charge is low.
That flexibility is useful on a longer day. It still pays to consider how often you will charge, rather than treating the WLTP electric range as a guaranteed journey distance.

Frequently asked questions
Is the TIGGO 9 a plug-in hybrid?
Yes. The UK TIGGO 9 Super Hybrid combines a rechargeable drive battery with a petrol engine and hybrid transmission.
How far can the TIGGO 9 drive electrically?
CHERY quotes up to 87 miles under WLTP testing. Actual electric distance varies with the journey, weather, load and operating conditions.
Can I rapid-charge the TIGGO 9?
Yes. CHERY quotes up to 71kW DC and around 20 minutes from 30–80% under suitable controlled conditions. Actual charging performance varies.
Is 20 minutes an empty-to-full charge?
No. The quoted time covers 30–80% charge. Do not use it as a full-charge time or as an AC home-charging figure.
What should I check before arranging a home charger?
Ask an installer to assess the property and discuss the car’s connection, supplied equipment and charging settings with Invicta. Confirm the complete installation quotation.
