Which MG suits you?
Find your shortlist by budget, seats and how you want to drive.
At a glance
- Lower starting price: begin with MG3; consider MG3 Hybrid+ for an automatic hybrid.
- Family choices: compare ZS and HS, or start with MGS9 when seven seats are essential.
- Going electric: choose your body style and budget, then compare MG4, MGS5, MGS6 and IM versions.
Your MG shortlist
Start with your journeys, then choose the model
MG’s range now covers small hatchbacks, family SUVs, a seven-seat plug-in hybrid and larger electric models. The easiest way to narrow it down is to answer three questions: how much space do you need, can you charge regularly, and what is your total budget?
Petrol is a familiar option for refuelling. Hybrid+ combines petrol and electric power without an external charging requirement. A plug-in hybrid offers chargeable electric driving alongside a petrol engine. A fully electric MG is worth considering when home, workplace or public charging fits your routine.
The prices below are MG Motor UK’s published starting prices checked on 13 October 2026, before optional extras. They are cash-price reference points, not finance offers or guaranteed stock prices. Check Invicta’s MG offers for the exact vehicle and current quotation.
Small-car choices: MG3 and MG4
MG3
From £17,995 OTR
A petrol hatchback to consider when a lower purchase price and a manual gearbox are your priorities.
MG3 Hybrid+
From £19,995 OTR
A compact automatic hybrid for drivers who want electrification without arranging charging.
MG4 EV Urban
From £23,495 OTR
The lower-priced electric hatchback in the current range. Start here when moving to an EV on a tighter budget.
MG4 EV
From £30,495 OTR
The separate MG4 electric range, including more performance-focused choices. Compare the exact version rather than assuming it is an Urban trim.
Already leaning towards MG3 Hybrid+? Our MG3 versus Toyota Yaris guide takes that decision further. For MG4 Urban, use the trim and colour guide once you have chosen the model.
Five-seat SUVs: ZS or HS?
MG ZS
From £21,495 OTR
A petrol SUV for those who prefer conventional refuelling and want the ZS body style.
MG ZS Hybrid+
From £23,995 OTR
A full-hybrid SUV with no plug-in charging requirement.
MG HS
From £27,495 OTR
A larger five-seat petrol SUV. Consider it when cabin space matters more than choosing a small-car footprint.
MG HS Hybrid+
From £30,495 OTR
The larger Hybrid+ option: electrification without needing to plug in.
MG HS Plug-in Hybrid
From £33,495 OTR
For drivers who can charge regularly and want electric journeys with petrol available for longer trips.
To choose between the HS engines, follow our MG HS powertrain comparison. It answers the detailed engine question without making you start the whole range search again.
Need seven seats? Start with MGS9
MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid starts from £34,210 OTR and is the current MG choice for seven seats. It gives families an additional seating row alongside a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Before deciding, try the seating layout with the people who will use it. Check access to the back row, how your child seats fit and the luggage space remaining when every seat is occupied. These are more useful checks than comparing a maximum boot figure with all the seats folded.
Electric SUVs and the IM range
MGS5 EV
From £28,995 OTR
An electric SUV to shortlist when you want a family-friendly body style below the MGS6 starting price.
MGS6 EV
From £37,995 OTR
A larger electric SUV choice. Compare the relevant battery and drive version for your journeys.
MG IM5
From £39,950 OTR
The electric saloon alternative to an SUV. A useful starting point if you prefer this body style.
MG IM6
From £48,495 OTR
The electric SUV in the IM range, for those considering its more advanced technology and equipment.
Our MGS5 expert-review round-up, MGS6 version guide and IM5 versus IM6 comparison help with the next decision. Compare official range for the exact version, then allow for weather, speed and your normal routes.
MG’s UK range also includes the two-seat Cyberster electric roadster, published from £55,245 OTR. Ask the Invicta team about retailer availability if this is the model you have in mind.

Bring your everyday requirements
Have your usual passengers, child-seat needs, parking-space measurements and charging options in mind. They can narrow the range quickly.
Compare the complete quotation
Ask for the exact trim, options, cash price and any finance terms. A higher-specification car is only useful if you value its extra equipment.
