Duster Hybrid 150 4×4 explained
An automatic gearbox and an electric rear motor give this Duster a distinctive approach to four-wheel drive.
The story in brief
- Automatic four-wheel drive: Hybrid 150 4×4 pairs a petrol engine with an electrically driven rear axle.
- No charging cable: the 48-volt battery recovers energy as you drive.
- Choose by powertrain: Hybrid 150 4×4 is different from the front-wheel-drive Hybrid 155.
The Duster 4×4 option
What makes this Duster different?
Duster has long appealed to drivers who want an SUV for everyday use as well as the occasional rough track. The current Hybrid 150 4×4 adds an automatic transmission and an electric rear motor to that idea, without asking you to install a home charger.
It is a distinct powertrain in the current Duster range at Invicta. Selecting Journey or Extreme tells you about the equipment; selecting Hybrid 150 4×4 tells you how the vehicle is driven. Both choices matter if four-wheel drive is on your list.
For guests in Bolton and across the North West, the useful question is how often you need the extra traction and which type of gearbox you prefer. Start there, then explore the appropriate Duster with our Dacia team.
Under the bodywork
How the electric rear axle works
Dacia’s UK description combines a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with a 48-volt hybrid system and a dedicated electric motor at the rear. The petrol engine uses a dual-clutch automatic gearbox; the rear motor has its own two-speed transmission.
That rear motor is what distinguishes the 4×4 layout. It can contribute drive to the rear wheels, rather than simply assisting the petrol engine at the front. Dacia states that, in permanent 4×4 mode, the rear motor can draw power from the battery or the front motor-generator.
The manufacturer illustration shows the arrangement more clearly than an exterior badge can. It is worth understanding the layout before comparing it with the other Duster hybrids, because the similar names do not describe identical drivetrains.
Automatic, without plugging in
Keep your refuelling routine familiar
The Hybrid 150 4×4 battery is charged during use, including by recovering energy when the vehicle slows or brakes. You refuel with petrol; there is no external charging socket to plan around.
Electrical assistance supports the drive, and electric running is available when operating conditions permit. How often the engine is needed depends on the route, battery state, weather and load. A manufacturer’s urban test percentage is not a promise for every journey.
The automatic gearbox is another useful part of the package. If your week includes traffic as well as rural roads, arrange a test drive that lets you try the transmission in everyday conditions, and ask the team to demonstrate the relevant driving controls.

Choosing your specification
Make the 4×4 choice work for you
Our Duster equipment guide separates Expression, Journey and Extreme. Features such as camera systems, cabin finishes and outdoor-focused equipment vary between versions, so start with the drivetrain you need and then compare the trim.
If you are buying for towing, provide the team with your trailer or caravan details. The allowed trailer weight and other vehicle limits must be confirmed for the exact Hybrid 150 4×4: figures quoted for a different Duster engine should not be carried across.

Your questions answered
Dacia questions answered
Is Duster Hybrid 150 4×4 automatic?
Yes. Dacia pairs the petrol engine with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The electrically driven rear axle uses a separate two-speed transmission.
Does Duster Hybrid 150 4×4 need charging?
No. Its battery is replenished during use, including energy recovery when slowing down or braking. You refuel it with petrol.
How does it drive the rear wheels?
A dedicated rear electric motor contributes drive at the rear axle. Dacia says permanent 4×4 operation can power that motor from the battery or front motor-generator.
Is Hybrid 155 also four-wheel drive?
No. The current Duster Hybrid 155 is a different, front-wheel-drive full-hybrid powertrain. Choose the Hybrid 150 4×4 if you need this four-wheel-drive layout.
Can I use another Duster’s towing figure?
No. Ask the team to confirm the towing and permitted weight limits for your exact vehicle and trailer. Engine and drivetrain differences can change the relevant limits.
