The petrol model is £3,000 less at the published Pure-trim starting price. It suits drivers who cannot charge at home, frequently make unplanned long trips or simply prefer the national filling-station network. The seven-speed automatic also keeps daily driving easy.
The case for electric
The E5 Electric has more power, instant response and an official 248-mile WLTP range. It makes most sense when charging can happen while the car is parked—typically overnight at home or during the working day.
Look beyond the purchase price
An EV may cost more to buy but can cost less to energy-charge when a suitable home tariff is available. Public rapid charging is usually more expensive. Petrol costs are easier to compare, but both drivers should consider insurance, tyres, finance, servicing and likely annual mileage.
