New Mazda CX-6e: UK launch update
The latest confirmed cabin, equipment and practicality details ahead of Mazda’s new electric SUV arriving in the UK.
The launch at a glance
- UK arrival: Mazda confirms late 2026, with Takumi and Takumi Plus grades.
- Room for five: a 468-litre boot, expanding to 1,434 litres with the rear seats folded.
- Comfort as standard: a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, plus heated and ventilated front seats.
A closer look ahead of the UK launch
The new Mazda CX-6e is heading for a late-2026 UK arrival. Alongside its electric powertrain, the confirmed specification brings a panoramic glass roof, generous standard equipment and a choice of two cabin finishes in Takumi, with further comfort features in Takumi Plus.
We have already covered CX-6e pricing, range and charging; here, the focus is on the space and equipment you will use every day.
How much boot space does the CX-6e have?
The rear boot holds 468 litres with the seats in place, increasing to 1,434 litres with them folded. The 60:40 split lets you open up part of the load area while keeping a rear seat available, and a powered tailgate is included in the Takumi specification.
There is also an 80-litre front storage compartment. Keeping charging cables there leaves the rear luggage area easier to organise when you are packing for a trip.
For a pushchair, dog crate or a favourite set of suitcases, shape matters as much as volume. When arranging a viewing, ask whether you can bring your usual luggage to try the fit.

Give the back seats some attention
The CX-6e has five seats in two rows. Rear air vents, a folding centre armrest with two cupholders and ISOFIX on the outer rear seats are included in the supplied UK Takumi specification.
The panoramic glass roof brings light into the cabin, with an electric sunshade for when you want more shade. Rear passengers also have a touchscreen for cabin functions; Takumi Plus adds controls for its outer rear-seat heating and ventilation.
On a viewing, set the driver’s seat as you normally would, then try the seat behind it. If you use child seats, bring them along to check the fit and access with the team.
Takumi or Takumi Plus: what changes inside?
Both grades include heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 23-speaker audio system and the 26.45-inch central touchscreen. The choice is about the cabin finish and extra features you would enjoy.
Takumi
Choose Black or Stone Maztex upholstery, Mazda’s alternative to leather. Conventional door mirrors, an auto-dimming interior mirror and 19-inch alloy wheels are standard.
A useful starting point if you want the main comfort and technology features, with a choice of light or dark cabin finishes.
Takumi Plus
Adds Amethyst and White Maztex, digital side and interior mirrors, and 21-inch wheels. Outer rear seats gain heating and ventilated seat bases, with extra rear-screen controls.
Worth a closer look if rear-seat comfort and the two-tone interior are high on your list.
Grade differences: Mazda UK specification announcement. A 21-inch wheel option is also offered on Takumi.
Technology for the daily routine
The large central screen is the most visible feature, but the smaller conveniences deserve attention too. A cooled wireless phone-charging pad gives a compatible phone its own charging space, while storage beneath the floating centre console keeps everyday items close by.
A head-up display presents driving information ahead of you. Front and rear parking sensors and a 360° view monitor are also included, helping you judge the space around the car when manoeuvring.
If Takumi Plus appeals, ask for a demonstration of the digital mirrors. It is worth trying the camera views and display positions yourself, alongside the touchscreen and voice controls.
Room for weekends away
Mazda publishes a maximum braked towing capacity of 1,500kg and a 75kg vertical towbar load for the CX-6e. That makes towing equipment and towbar-mounted carriers useful topics to discuss if they are part of your plans.
Tell the team what you intend to carry or tow so they can check the approved equipment and limits for your chosen car. For a bike carrier, include the weight of the carrier as well as the bikes.
