MG3 Hybrid+: SE or Trophy?

The same hybrid powertrain, with a £2,000 difference in equipment. Find out what Trophy adds and what MG’s latest update means for your shortlist.

Your quick guide

  • Current UK prices: SE from £19,995 OTR; Trophy from £21,995 OTR.
  • Shared performance: 194PS Hybrid+ with an automatic transmission and no need to plug in.
  • Trophy’s additions: heated front seats and steering wheel, a 360-degree camera and further convenience features.

What does Trophy add for £2,000?

If you want a small automatic hybrid with a straightforward equipment choice, MG3 Hybrid+ has two UK grades to compare. Both use the same 1.5-litre petrol-electric system. Trophy’s premium buys comfort and convenience features rather than a more powerful engine.

A useful step up if the comfort and camera upgrades are features you would use regularly.

Prices from MG’s current UK offer page; equipment and technical figures from the October 2026 MG3 brochure. OTR prices are before optional paint and retailer offers. Both Hybrid+ grades are quoted at 64.2mpg and 100g/km CO₂ WLTP combined; actual consumption depends on use and conditions.

The starting grade

SE: the core features are already included

SE combines its 10.25-inch touchscreen with a separate seven-inch driver display. Navigation and smartphone mirroring are part of the specification, so you can compare the controls and phone connection before deciding whether you need the higher grade.

A reversing camera and rear sensors help with parking, while the MG Pilot assistance package includes adaptive cruise control. Assistance features support the driver; take time to understand their settings and operation on your test drive.

Both Hybrid+ versions have a quoted 0–62mph time of eight seconds. The system uses a small battery that charges through the vehicle’s operation, so choosing either grade does not require a home charging point.

For shoppers who would rather keep the £2,000 difference in their budget, SE is worth trying first. Ask for a quotation on the exact car so you can compare the total price and any offer, as well as the brochure specification.

Trophy: comfort you can try before you buy

Trophy’s heated front seats and steering wheel are practical additions for colder mornings. Its 360-degree camera provides a different view from SE’s rear camera, and keyless entry is another feature to try with your normal routine in mind.

The higher grade also brings LED projector headlights and additional assistance features, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Check the exact car’s equipment and ask the team to demonstrate how the alerts work.

The latest Trophy upholstery has a black leather- and suede-style finish. That description refers to the appearance of the material; it should not be read as a claim that the seats use genuine leather.

Trophy and SE share the same official combined fuel-economy figure, but that does not make every ownership cost identical. Purchase price, insurance, tyres, servicing and your driving all affect the total. Compare the comfort features with your budget rather than assuming the higher grade will cost the same to run.

September 2026 update

What changed in MG’s latest update?

MG announced refinements to MG3 Hybrid+ on 28 September 2026, alongside changes to ZS and HS. The stated aim for the hybrid updates is smoother, quieter driving. MG3 also gains refreshed black upholstery: cloth in SE, with the leather- and suede-style finish in Trophy.

When comparing stock, ask whether the vehicle has the latest specification. Registration year alone may not identify the equipment version, and earlier photographs can still appear on a model page. The exterior images in this guide illustrate MG3 Hybrid+; they do not claim to show the revised seat materials.

“Customers choose MG because they expect superior equipment, modern technology and an enjoyable car to drive.”

Official UK information: MG’s September update announcement.

A small hatchback that fits your week

MG quotes a 293-litre boot, increasing to 983 litres with the rear seats folded. Bring the shopping bags, pushchair or other luggage you normally carry and see how they fit with the seats arranged for your passengers.

The MG new-car warranty runs for seven years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first, subject to maintenance requirements, component limits and exclusions. Read the MG warranty terms and ask about servicing alongside your offer.

  • Compare both cameras. Try the rear view in SE and the 360-degree view in Trophy.
  • Check the comfort upgrades. Sit in both grades and use the seat and steering-wheel controls.
  • Confirm the update. Ask for the equipment specification of the exact car being quoted.
  • Bring your phone and luggage. Make the visit relevant to the way you will use the car.
