Subaru’s ownership package combines several different protections. The main vehicle warranty, hybrid battery cover, paint, anti-corrosion and recovery assistance each have their own duration and purpose. A claim must satisfy the relevant section rather than the longest headline anywhere in the package.
| Area | Headline cover | Plain-English note |
|---|---|---|
| New vehicle | 3 years / 60,000 miles | Whichever comes first; exclusions include the clutch driven plate. |
| e-BOXER high-voltage battery | 8 years / 100,000 miles | Separate hybrid-component terms apply. |
| Paint | 3 years | Eligible manufacturing defects, subject to the terms. |
| Anti-corrosion | 12 years | Protects against eligible body perforation, not every surface mark. |
| Recovery assistance | 3 years | UK and European assistance under its own conditions. |
What the vehicle warranty is for
The main warranty addresses eligible defects in material or manufacture. It does not turn routine ownership costs into warranty repairs. Scheduled servicing, tyres, friction materials, damage, neglect and other wear-related items are treated separately under the complete terms.
The e-BOXER battery has separate cover
The high-voltage hybrid battery is listed for eight years or 100,000 miles. That does not extend the whole vehicle warranty to eight years. Battery testing and eligibility follow Subaru’s process, so the retailer needs the car and its records before confirming a repair.
Modifications and maintenance
Subaru notes that modifications can invalidate warranty where relevant. Accessories, suspension, wheels, electrical changes and non-standard tuning should be discussed before fitting. Service the car on time, use suitable parts and fluids, and retain evidence even if maintenance is completed outside the supplying retailer.
Checks for a used Subaru
- Confirm first-registration date and exact mileage.
- Review the service record and outstanding maintenance.
- Ask whether any modifications are fitted.
- Verify remaining cover against the VIN and current warranty booklet.
